| What is the Writing Center?
The Writing Center is a student-run place where you can
discuss your writing at any stage of the writing process.
Whether you're struggling to define your topic or trying
to make an outline or have already completed a draft of
your paper, the writing consultants will work with you
to help you clarify what you're trying to say and can
offer suggestions on how to improve the focus, organization,
and mechanics of your paper. The consultant's most valuable
role is to act as a knowledgeable and impartial reader
-- to tell you where you need more support for an assertion.
Although the consultants will be happy to help you edit
your paper, you are responsible for doing the work. You
cannot drop your paper off for proofreading and pick it
up later. Our purpose is to help you help yourself to
become a better writer, not to do your work for you. Although
you are welcome to drop in at any time, appointments are
encouraged so that you can have more thorough, less rushed
help. Just call the number above to set up a time.
